Scholastic and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation released the largest-ever survey of America’s public school teachers on March 3, 2010 via live webcast. The survey asked 40,000 teachers for their thoughts on education reform, and teachers offered powerful, nuanced views on the challenges facing our schools and identified key solutions to addressing those challenges. President of Scholastic Education Margery Mayer appeared on NPR’s Talk of the Nation to discuss the findings, and the full report is available for download at www.scholastic.com/primarysources.

This week top artists and creative industry leaders are in Scholastic’s SoHo headquarters judging works in the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. Meanwhile, news outlets around the country are reporting on many kids whose work won top awards regionally, which has put their art in front of the judges in New York.
